Beginner Story Tellers

Your child doesn't have to be able to write or type fluently to start learning how to craft a story, how to organize language, and work on building their vocabulary.

Kids Classes teach each child personalized content based on where they are as creative story tellers at the moment, and what their goals are.

I can type the story that they tell, then we can work on hands on activities with printed words on paper, giving them options to build the organization of their story Kinistheticly, adding colour to engage their visual processing
If you have goals for your little learner that you would like me to focus on, such as a spelling list to include in the story, I can use that as the focus of a lesson, and work with you to make their learning fun.
The best progress comes from building each lesson on from the previous, getting to know the student and how to help them reach their full potential.

Intermediate Story tellers

At this level the child has a good understanding

of the basics of what makes a story

* that it has a beginning , middle and end.

That it (usually) follows one Main character

through a challenge and an adventure.

Children at this level are usually able to

type their story out or hand write them

by themselves. ( not always of course)

So we will work on content development, consistency of perspective ( 1st person, 3rd person or narrative) How to structure dialogue, internal thought & monologue.

language development and plot development.
Again, the parents personal goals for the child can be incorporated into the process, and on a weekly basis we can work towards mini and long term goals.

Advanced Story Tellers

Learning Structure:

 30 Minute in person lessons,

with 30 minutes worth of Online work

( Student will submit the homework -

I will respond with corrections or further direction,

then the student works on it again, and brings the

piece to the next lesson,

the next lesson begins a new objective.

At this stage Learners may want to work on building their ability to write a short story with the aim to have it published in a children's Short story competition. The majority of the Childs work will be focusing on the things they learned in the lesson, and mini chalanges set out for them to try while I am there with them helping guide them to comprehend the focus of the lesson. Once they have a understanding of the Lesson, They can take their work home and apply it to the story they are writing, and email it back to me after they have ad time to think on their own time about how to make it work for them.

 For example,

A lesson might be on the theme " unique character perspective"  I would ask them to :

Describe a certain senecio from one characters perspective, in several different forms

1) the character is a baby, watching its mother do the dishes. Write a paragraph of internal thought mixed with narration describing whats happening and how the baby perceives it.

2) The Character is the Mother watching the dishes. Write a paragraph of internal thought mixed with narration describing whats happening and how the mother perceives it.

3)The Character is a spider on the fridge watching the mother and child. Write a paragraph of internal thought mixed with narration describing whats happening and how the

spider perceives it.

All the weekly lessons are based on the individuals abilities. The lessons are structured to progress with them as they improve to continually challenge them. There can be one, or two, lesson a week so Submissions will be received on Mondays, Thursdays or Mondays and Thursdays.

I will not be focusing on Spelling and Grammar unless the parent specifies this with older children, by this stage, I will be focusing on them achieving a outstanding understanding of how stories can be constructed, what makes good story content & plot, how to create interest, conflict, show but don't tell and creating balance in their work.
